Carlyle Capital Nears Collapse as Rescue Talks Fail

Carlyle Group said creditors plan to seize the assets of its mortgage-bond fund after it failed to meet more than $400 million of margin calls, heightening concern about a lending freeze that led to a plunge in the dollar and global stock markets.


The Carlyle Group has been a major supporter of 'W', Reagan and Bush I. That they are now being hit over the head with the end result of 'Reagonomics' is truly a fine example of irony.

I hope they go broke.

In other news, I have acquired the complete Civilization compilation. (Civ I, II, III, IV) which has all of the expansions as well. Played a bit of Civ I last night. You do tend to forget just how primitive the games were back in the day compared to the later generations. Still, much fun to be had beating up Stalin... ^^

Looks like Donna and I are going to see the Pillows tonight. For those who don't recognize the group, they did the music for FCL. Think about a more modern variation on the Beatles. Paul and John would definitely hear their influence on these performers.

This weekend, need to get the lat of my CEUs completed so I can renew my ARRT licence. I have until the 31st, but I don't want to chance it.
