President Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

OSLO – President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," the Norwegian Nobel Committee said, citing his outreach to the Muslim world and attempts to curb nuclear proliferation.

The Nobel committee praised Obama's creation of "a new climate in international politics" and said he had returned multilateral diplomacy and institutions like the U.N. to the center of the world stage. The plaudit appeared to be a slap at President George W. Bush from a committee that harshly criticized Obama's predecessor for resorting to largely unilateral military action in the wake of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

I hope Bush is choking on his own spittle right now. I mean, damn! Just when you think the contrast between President Obama and 'w' couldn't be made any more clear.

It is so nice to have a President who isn't reviled by the world at large. Now if only he'd prosecute Bush and Cheney for their war crimes...

And all for $629. Not too bad. Also looked at some reviews this morning. I had some reservations about getting a Gateway computer as I've heard some bad things about them, but this one has had nothing but great reviews and most everyone else paid about $100 more than I did.

Downside, it was a closeout special because Gateway is discontinuing the model. Still, did get an extended service contract (2 years) so if it breaks in that time, they will replace it. Also it runs Vista... ugh! Well, I'll cope.

Should be fun to work with, now to move stuff off of my old 550 mHz laptop...
