Son of a Bitch Must Pay!
Jul. 21st, 2002 10:16 pmHome sick for the last three days and likely for the next couple as well.
On the plus side, I got to see the news reports as they happened when they caught the bastard who killed Samantha Runnion last week.
He gets arraigned tomorrow. More than she got, but then again we're civilized.
Saw a post about how this gets covered so heavily but when an adult is raped and/or murdered it seemed like no one cared. I don't entirely agree with that.
Sure, this got a lot of publicity. There have been to many cases like this in recent years and this creep was likely to strike again. And it also was a child, innocently playing in her own yard who was taken away and brutally killed. This after God only knows what else was done to her. Is it fair that this should get so much media coverage? No. No more than the coverage for Chandra Levy or any other missing person.
It is understandable.
It would be nice if everyone was cared for as we would a child. This world would be a much nicer place to live. But I have seen coverage of other crimes by sexual predators, those who prey on adults.
Trust me, they want those guys as much as the ones who hurt kids. Sometimes it takes longer to get them, and the media is well known for it's short attention span unless it has a nice scandal to get worked up over.
We got this one. He'll hurt no one else's child. Now we have to learn to value each other like our own families. Then things can get better and creeps like this one will have a harder time finding victims.
