General stuff...

unclejimboWent back to work Saturday. Not too bad considering the weather. (California drivers freak out when it spinkles... A major rain storm, weel you can just imagine) Most folks stayed home, thankfully so we didn't have any accident victims. Quite a few elderly people who slipped on wet pavement. Had at least one hip fracture. those are never nice.
Talked to my nephew John on AOL messenger. He dropped out of high school a few years ago and has been doing the School of Hard Knocks for the last few years... And he took some seriously hard shots.

kyburg and I have been some of the only people who he's been in contact with consistently. And there were times that Donna and I were very angry with him, he was that frustrating. "Don't tell me what I should be doing. Tell mewhat I want to hear!"
Well, as I said we spoke this weekend. He told me he was preparing to take the Constitution portion of his GED test and should have the whole thing wrapped up by January. He'll be staying on until May to serve as a tutor for the other people in the class.
His live journal isfirez He's a bright kid and we've always told him so. His home life while growing up was to say the least chaotic. Mom has been married to several men who really weren't the best choices and she prefers to abdicate her responsibility to the male in the relationship... But nothing is her fault. This is the lesson she passed to John and his sister. John had to learn that this was not so. You are responsible to yourself and those around you.
And the best part is he invited us to his graduation in May. He wanted us there because we were "the ones who pushed me the hardest to get this stuff done." Like I said, a good kid. He just needed a dose of reality to get him going in the right direction. He's even planning on taking college courses in the spring.
Got Excel Saga 3 in today. Watched it until eyes bled. Good DVD. Definitely mindless entertainment - If you try and focus on it too closely, permanent brain injury is likely. :p
