Last update from Japan
Mar. 28th, 2004 07:30 pmTook Donna today to Ueno Park to see the cherry blossoms. She came down with an upper respiratory bug and slept most of Sunday, so this was her only opportunity to see them.
Tokyo Disney, sadly, was a casualty of this development. Still, it was $110 that we didn't have to spend so it wasn't all bad. I was able to get into the Imperial Palace Gardens, yes I have the pictures, I'll post them when I get home. I checked out Ueno Park and videotaped the cherry blossoms. I'll need to figure out how to format that from videotape to something you all can see. It will also need some editing and stuff...
The big bonus in Ueno Park was the exhibition of Star Wars stuff. There was everything, costumes, props, models, posters... The works. Even the early concept drawings and models of vehicles and costumes. The Millenium Falcon nearly looked like the Discovery from 2001.
Finished off the day in Akihabara. I saw quite a lot of stuff I would have liked to take home... Sadly, I also knew what would happen to me if I charged $2000 on the American Express Card. Dead wouldn't even begin to cover it.
So tonight, we finish packing stuff and get some sleep. Checkout here is as 10 AM and our flight doesn't leave until 6:30 PM. We'll be hanging out at Narita most of the day, but I should be able to find some little knick-knacks for the gang at work there. Nartia has a very large lounge for International departures.
So, next post should be back States-side. I saw on Google the Peter Ustinov died today. Yet another giant from the past has faded away. *sigh* It will be nice to wch the news and be able to understand what is being said. Oh well, more Japanese lessons for me it looks like.
