Harry Potter and quick weekend update.
Jul. 19th, 2005 07:02 amSorry for not posting for a while... It's been a little hectic.
The weekend in San Diego was very nice with the possible exception of the traffic on the way back to LA.
kyburg compared it favorably to the traffic coming back from Las Vegas... Bumper to bumper for about 50-60 miles. Ugh.
On the plus side, I got to meet the fellow who does the voice of Batman on the latest Batman animated series and the bloke who is responsible for the animation for the Teen Titans. Both very friendly, even after having signed God only knows how many autographs.
Also stumbled upon Richard Hatch (Apollo from the original Battlestar Galactica). Got one of his books and an autograph. Nice fellow. And how many times do you get to chat with someone you watched on TV when you were a kid?
Sunday was the zoo... Met up with
nytshade and her family. Had much fun wandering around and got to see the bout between a male orangutan and three howler monkeys. (When we left, the howlers were leading in the third round.) And let me tell you, when they say Howlers, they mean it! We could hear these guys going at it all over the zoo! One fun memory, getting to howl with an arctic wolf. Poor thing was terrified coming out but became much more comfortable when the entire audience at the show howled... After a few minutes, he howled back and even stayed out while people were filing out. Some, like me, were still howling. He seemed to like it.
They also had flamingo hatchlings. Apparently the ones at the SDZ were not getting the job done so they brought in some pros form the Wild Animal Park in Escondido. The gang at the zoo I belive caught on well and there should be a steady supply of pink flamingos for the forseeable future.
Okay, Harry Potter...
I finished it last night. Donna was saying how upset people were about the ending. I can see why. (No I am not going to spoil it for anyone.) However, I did guess who the Prince was early in the book. Very interesting book, a nice addition to the series. I wonder how she'll wrap things up.
*Not quite a spoiler...*
Upset, me? I suspected she was going to do something like this. I didn't think he was going to make it through the entire series anyway. Who? Well, I guess you'll just have to read the book, won't you? ^^

Date: 2005-07-19 04:35 pm (UTC)I had two choices on who the Prince was, I had trouble making up my mind until the fight between Draco and Harry.
I'm posting some thoughts behind a cut later on today.

Date: 2005-07-19 09:01 pm (UTC)I agree, Dumpledore knew what was coming, but I wouldn't be surprised if Albus pops up in the next book. He's a crafty old coot... ^^
Snape knew he had to kill Dumpledore. If not, he and Draco were dead. I imagine that Albus thought he was the more expendable one. It will be interesting to see how Harry and Snape work out their issues in the next book.
