U.S. citizens suspected of terror ties might be detained indefinitely and barred from access to civilian courts under legislation proposed by the Bush administration, say legal experts reviewing an early version of the bill.
A 32-page draft measure is intended to authorize the
Pentagon's tribunal system, established shortly after the 2001 terrorist attacks to detain and prosecute detainees captured in the war on terror. The tribunal system was thrown out last month by the Supreme Court.
Administration officials, who declined to comment on the draft, said the proposal was still under discussion and no final decisions had been made.
If we give up what we love most about our country, then the Terrorists win. Period. Bush is always yapping about how the Terrorists hate our freedoms which is why they attack us. How does is help if he works to take them away?
In short, it doesn't. It makes Bush and company the terrorists which they have been since they stole the election in 2000.
I know many out there hate the Dems almost as much as the Republicans, but in this election, we need to get Bush's majority out of power. When we reclaim that which is ours before Bush and Cheney sells it all, we can think about other parties. But if you want other voices in the debate, you have to take part in the democratic process.
