Student sues Capo teacher, alleging anti-Christianity statements

MISSION VIEJO – A high school honors student and his parents filed a First Amendment lawsuit Wednesday against a Capistrano Valley High School history teacher they say repeatedly made disparaging and religiously intolerant remarks about Christians and traditional Christian viewpoints during class.

Court papers cite statements tape-recorded by Farnan such as "Conservatives don't want women to avoid pregnancies – that's interfering with God's work" and "When you put on your Jesus glasses, you can't see the truth."

Okay, IMHO the Jesus glasses remark is not very diplomatic, but in my own dealings with the 'Born Again' Christians, I can only agree with the statement. It also seems to escape this student and his parents that the teacher also has First Amendment rights that they are infringing on. It is my hope that this case will merely be thrown out of court. What a colossal waste of time.

When the article first appeared the comments were 10 to 1 in favor of the teacher, because they said he said provocative things to get the kids to think, he evoked the students to defend their beliefs, much as an AP class instructor should. The kid and his parents are assholes who are so insecure in their relious beleifs they need a lawsuit to 'prove' they are discriminated against. It's bullshit.. pure and simple. Their kid is a dunce and not ready for prime time.
