Back in the days of my youth, I used to watch the World Wrestling Federation programs and even went to some of their events. I saw Hulk Hogan, Randy "Macho Man" Savage, Andre the Giant and other wrestlers of old do their thing in the squared circle and enjoyed what amounted to a sports soap opera where there was audience participation.
One of the most unique figures was 'Captain' Lou Albano. One of his claims to fame was to appear in some videos with Cindi Lauper and was known for his Hawaiian shirts and the rubber bands hanging from his face. (Hey, they had a guy back then who had a green tongue and ate the turnbuckles. Go fig?)
Sadly, old Capt. Lou passed away today. Link Here I'm sure that Cindi is quite saddened by the news as they were good friends by all reports. My thoughts are with his family and friends tonight. As are my memories, another icon from my youth has faded away.
