Obama

Whew, thank God/Allah/Buddha/and Fred that this primary is now OVER!!!

For the first time, a major political party had nominated an African American Candidate to become the President of the United States. This is historic and you'll be able to tell your children and grandchildren about it when such things as women and minorities in high office are not even a blip on the radar.

I realize that a lot of people out there are upset that Hillary did not win it. I will admit had the results been different, I would be equally upset. I do not trust Mrs. Clinton nor do I think I will in the forseeable future.

That being said, I need to address one thing. She does not have the majority of the popular vote.

She omits purposely the states that do not have primaries where the number of people who turned out was much higher than anyone had anticipated. Apparently those voters don't exist because the majority of them voted for Mr. Obama.

This is disingenuous and to continue to repeat this erroneous statement as if it were true serves no one with the possible exception of John McCain. The reason I'm using this old icon is to remind us all of one important point: McCain is going to be the third term of George W. Bush and his policies will continue if McCain is elected or allowed to steal the 2008 elections.

We have to stand together.

Even Randi Rhodes, who Hillary had a hand in getting fired from Air America, has said that if Hillary were the nominee, she would hold her nose and vote for her. That says a lot. It shows just how important this election is.

Sure you can vote for Ralph Nader or some other candidate to show your disgust for the system, but what good does that do? Ralph Nader did syphon off a number of progressive votes which allowed 'W' to steal the election in Florida. See how much good your vote for Nader did then?

Well a vote for anyone but Obama is much the same thing. And to the feminists out there, yes - he does have a penis. I have one too, but it does not disqualify me from judging someone on his or her merits. I think Hillary is a fine Senator and should remain in the Senate. She is much more effective there than she would be as VP IMHO. Her negatives along with those she brings from her husband Bill make her a poor selection for VP.

Just look at Faux News. They are up in arms that Hillary did not win the majority of delegates. They were waiting and doing their best to insure they could run Hillary against John McCain because they had tons of stuff to bring up between now and November. Instead they have to deal with Obama and all they have is the Rev. Wright issue. Besides that -- oh yeah, he's black.

I'm not asking anyone to decide anything right now, the emotions are too close to the surface. Just everyone take a breath and think about the long term effects of your emotions right now. And if needed, take a page from Randi Rhodes: Hold your nose. But do not vote for Bush McCain. Please.
