Looked at
xanxanbell's journal. It's been exactly 2 months since we left the country to bring him home. It feels like its hasn't been that long as well as a lot longer. Does that make sense?
It's been a busy time. He's been to a bunch of doctor's visits (and has one this Friday) which has resulted in his being taken off the thyroid supplements (a few weeks more and we'll know if he ever needs to take any more) and put on meds for having a positive PPD (tuberculosis) test. So every morning we take half a tablet, crush it into a fine powder and add water and grape syrup for snowcones to make something he'll drink readily. Which with some practice and trial and error he does every morning.
He's such a good little boy. He has his moments when he is naughty and stubborn, but what 3 year old doesn't. All we need to do is fine tune his toilet training. He needs to learn to aim a bit better so the urine doesn't go all over the place. Oh well.
He's learning more and more English all the time. I don't think I'd be able to keep up that pace at my age, thankfully kids are little sponges and learn new words quite readily.
He still resists the idea of bedtime, but that's getting better. You just have to be sure he's not playing possum. When he does go down, he goes thud and sleeps well through the night.
I enjoy being with him, and seeing his smile. I'm sure there will be other trials and tribulations in the coming months, but we'll get through them. Mother's day went reasonably well, although Donna has decided that Dim Sum is out for the time being. Xander had nightmares when he went down for his nap. We don't know what triggered them and probably will never find out. For now, we'll just follow his lead on such things.
For now, that's about it.
