Monkey-boy (aka G.W. Bush) Vetoed the stem cell bill today as promised. Link.

Here's hoping the people in congress who voted in favor can twist some arms and overturn the veto.

Stupid, ignorant bastard. 150 cells, that's all there is. That is NOT a human being. It does not think, or feel but it can save lives if used.

Do I think we should culture these blastocysts for stem cell harvesting? No. But the cells in question will be destroyed or they will be used by private corporations for research that does not use federal dollars. And there is the crux of the argument:

If Bush is so concerned about the "moral boundaries" in this country, then why does he not ban the research outright? I doubt that the Supremes would overturn any law to that effect. The reason, I think, is that his buddies in the drug business want to make lots of money with this research.

Stupid really is as stupid does.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded- here and there, now and then- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck." - Robert Heinlein

Bush seems to be singlehandedly proving most of Heinlein's assertions about wishful thinking and stupidity.
