Third try at this...

I am very happy that Barack Obama is the next President of the United States. He's a good man, in my opinion, and will do this country proud.

I am very sad that Prop 8 here in California is looking like it is going to pass. It is wrong. When you vote in favor of discrimination, you diminish us all. I lay the blame on the mega-churches that espouse a philosophy of hatred and intolerance while hiding behind the appearance of being "Christian". I call you hypocrites and I will work all that much harder to see this travesty undone.

People have the right to be with the ones they love. Domestic Partnerships are not equal and they are not fair.

We should all work to see that these organizations that want so badly to interfere with secular government pay the taxes they owe. They have stepped over the line, we need to make them see that his shall not stand.

Cavalry Chapel and the LDS church, this means you. You have been warned.

I have gotten in very fierce arguments today with Mormon acquaintances ... and ironically, I undermined one of their arguments by saying I would support reinstitution of plural civil marriage between consenting adults if it came up.

(Note the important phrase: CONSENTING ADULTS. None of this press-ganging 15-year-olds nonsense like Warren Jeffs.)

Civil institutions and religious institutions MUST remain separate. It's those people who can't separate god from government that are the problem ... and sadly, the LDS is all about conflating church with community. In some ways, it can be a great asset to solidarity and support ... but it really hurt everyone here.

Well, I took a look at the totals. The difference is only about 400,000 votes here and they say they haven't looked at the absentee and early voter ballots yet.


4 million to 400,000... I guess that's progress, but I wish it were a different outcome.
