Just finished watching the new Iron Chef program that Food Network has created. Unlike the "Iron Chef USA" which aired very briefly on Fox, this show was done much closer to the original format.

There are 3 Iron Chefs in this new Kitchen Stadium. Wolfgang Puck, Mario Batali and the infamous Bobby Flay.

First battle: Flay vs Iron Chef French, Sakai. Ingredient: Trout. Winner: Flay?

Flay?!? WTF? I watched the show, I heard their comments, I saw the dishes. I might give them a pass on what they preferred in flavor but when they give Bobby Flay higher scores on presentation than Sakai there is just something wrong. Flay served one of his dishes on a skillet for crying out loud! Sakai put forth dishes that were incredible to look at.

Grrr...

At least the moron, Flay, didn't jump up on the counter this time. Still, I'll give them credit, they captured the essence of the original show quite well. I hope Food Network picks the show up for several seasons. It will destroy Survivor and other "reality" shows. Maybe it will teach Americans about what real presentation is all about.

I'm betting that they had Flay win in order to keep him from whining, since I heard the *first* time he appeared on the original Iron Chef and lost, he whined and complained and wanted a re-match... that he got... and won...

Bobby Flay is an arrogant asshole, and I won't watch anything on the Food Network that he's on.

It's a shame, though... since i like Alton Brown, and I hear he was doing the commentating.

Again, to be fair, Flay was very gracious in victory. He referred to Sakai as the Babe Ruth of Kitchen Stadium. It seems like he might just be growing up finally.

Alton Brown was the perfect choice for the Play-by-Play commentary. He wasn't overboard, he just reported what he saw.

Overall, I'll give Iron Chef America an 8 out of 10. The new Kitchen Stadium they created I'll give a 9 out of 10.

I saw that too, I still can't believe that Flay won, especially on the presentation!? I think it's likely that these judges are doing the same thing the originals were doing in being blatantly biased in favor of the Iron Chefs (American) rather than giving honest scores... *grumps and hopes Morimoto kicks Batali's ass despite liking Batali*
